The First Time I Saw Me: Stories of Black Trans Emergence (TFTISM) is the inaugural independently produced tour of Underground Rainbow Experiment.

Beginning in California and designed for national expansion, TFTISM brings Black Trans and Gender Non-Conforming stories to audiences while creating paid opportunities for artists and cultural workers in the communities we enter.

The tour also helps generate support for URE’s Blue Roots Residency, an eight-week guaranteed-income and wayfinding residency that provides Black Trans and Gender Non-Conforming people with temporary housing, financial support, transportation assistance, community care-centered programming, and space for creative and personal wayfinding.
